Practices of Blast Furnace Intensifying Operation at WISCO
Within five years, remarkable progress have been made on practices of improving BF technical and economic indexes through taking such methods as (1) equipping BFs with modern technologies and facilities by making good use of every chance of new construction or relining of BF, (2) improving qualities of iron ore, fuel and optimizing burden composition etc., (3) searching for and practicing ways of blowing in BF with relative shorter period of time, (4) studying the principle of burden distribution, trying new and unique matrixes on the purpose of obtaining longer stable operation and higher productivity, (5) maintaining oxygen enrichment to 4%-5% and BF top pressure to 0.2-0.23MPa, (6) keeping a relative smooth lining profile of BF etc. As a result, the annual BF’s average productivity of 2.529t/m3.d and 2.527t/m3.d were accomplished in 2007 and 2008 respectively, and maybe a world record of 3.106t/m3.d was established in Feb., 2009 at #5BF. Three 3200m3 grade BFs have made a critical contribution to intensifying operation at WISCO.
