Development and Research of New BF Copper Cooling Staves in China
Copper cooling stave has been paid much attention during the past two decades because they have excellent performance and longevity. In this paper the research and application of copper staves in China lately are summarized firstly. The difference of heat flux between two staves with different cross-section of cooling channels is discussed. The test results show that the composite oblate copper cooling stave has better heat exchange effect than the round one. The difference of stave temperature and heat flux of cooling water proves its good ability. The fluctuation of heat flux of cooling water under the same gas temperature and water velocity is observed and analyzed. The changes of water-in temperature and the different heat accumulation of staves should be considered during heat flux test for BF staves. A new style copper staves’ hot test is carried out using an all-scale stave experiment system which is developed by authors. The temperature distribution and the isotherm on the thickness of a large-scale copper cooling stave are researched. The results show that the new type copper stave can meet the requirements that enhance the heat transfer and lower the water velocity. This work can be used as the references in order to optimize the structure of the copper staves further.
