Present Status of Investigation and Application of Ironmaking Blast Furnace Mathematical Models in China

The importance of mathematical models has been progressively recognized in China along with constant increasing of pig iron production and substantial progress of science and technology of ironmaking. A variety of blast furnace mathematical models have been studied and developed, and a number of models including expert systems have been disseminated and employed in the furnace design, production management and operational guidance of the blast furnace. In this report, the establishment methodology and application conditions of those classic mathematical models and expert systems that are attracted most attention were briefly introduced, involving mainly blast furnace top burden distribution, profile maintenance, hearth and pad erosion, pulverized coal injection, furnace heat control, furnace smooth running, and so forth. The heat stove mathematical models were also presented simply. In the end, possible development directions of blast furnace mathematical models in China were also discussed.
