Blast Furnace Operation Using Information on Active Burden Weight

Patents 1-3 are proposed for consideration, as their introduction will allow to control continuously the active weight of a column of melting materials in the upper half of the shaft (Kw), the thickness of a blanket of kish in the lower part of the shaft and the bosh, and height and radius of inactive materials in the hearth. Through controlling a blast furnace operation from above and from below, it is possible to conduct the process in an intensive mode for high-productivity work (Кw=0.50-0.60), in a economy-mode of specific fuel consumption (Кw=0.60-0.70) or in conditions where Кw=0.50, promoting formation of kish with maximum thickness, for prolongation of the campaign of the furnace. Testing of the Automatic Operation System using information on active burden weight was conducted on the blast furnace with the storage capacity of 2000m3 at Cherepovets metallurgical plant.
