Optimization of Molten Iron Flow Behavior in Ladle With Blowing Gas

Because of the low-sulphur steel producing, technique of gas blowing which can reduce slag-off time and increase slag removing effeciency in the ladle is adopted. Eulerian-Eulerian-Eulerian three-phase model is applied to describe the complex flow in the ladle, porous media model is used for describing the gas flow through the porous plug, the flow characteristic of molten iron in the ladle with gas blowing were computed using mathematical simulation approach. The influence of different gas blowing conditions are studied, the gas blowing parameters are optimized. The results show that: the bottom or side blowing improve flow fields of molten iron and increase slag removal efficiency, especially bottom blowing is better. When porous plug are located where r/R is 0.4 at the bottom of the ladle, the slag-off effectiveness is better.
