Degradation Characteristics of Iron Ore in COREX(R) Pre-Reduction Shaft Furnace Condition
Iron ores degradation behaviour in COREX(R)pre-reduction shaft furnace directly affects the furnace smooth operation, gas flow distribution and equipment utilization, therefore it is attracting more and more attention from iron-making plant workers. The degradation characteristics of the typical iron feed, pellet and lump ore at different reduction stages were studied, and the corresponding gas permeability of each packed beds were also investigated. The results show that ① The degradation of pellet P-C mostly occurs between 773 K and 873 K, the proportion of larger size grains decreases by degradation meanwhile the proportion of those grains less than 0.5 mm increases. ② The degradation of lump ore L-S mostly occurs between 773 K and 973 K, the proportion of larger size grains decreases by degradation meanwhile the proportion of middle and small size grains increase. ③ Owing to the lump ore L-S further degradation at high temperature, its gas permeability is worse than pellet P-C.
