Three-Dimensional Hydrodynamic Model of Single Wall Sticking Tetrahedron Block
Tetrahedron Block (TB) is a common used material in river closure and dike protection engineering. As an initial study of three dimensional hydraulic characteristics of TB,a hydrodynamic model based on cFD code Fluent is developed to predict the velocity fields and drags for single TB. The renormalization group (RNG) k-e model was adopted for turbulent closure of the RANS equations.Computational results are compared with experimental data. The study demonstrates that the numerical model can effectively supplement experimental studies in understanding the complex flow fields around TB. The diagram of drag coefficient CD versus Reynolds number Re is also presented, although the slight fluctuation of CD occur with the Re variation,it is found that drag coefficients CD approximatively keep to be a constant 1.3 in research range.
