Construction and Field Instrumentation of Pubugou Rockfill Dam
Pubugou dam is a gravelly-clay core rockfill dam with a height of 186 m and constructed on maximum 75 mdeep alluvium. Two concrete diaphragm walls of 1.2 m wide are used to control the seepage in the dam foundation, and a concrete gallery is set on top of downstream diaphragm to facilitate curtain grouting below the wall and also for monitoring and maintenance during operation period. The construction of the dam officially began in the end of year 2005.By the end of year 2006,the concrete diaphragm walls were completed and the pavement of the dam body commenced. The dam has now reached elevation 790 m and will arrive at EL 854 m in May 2009. A series of monitoring instruments,as piezometers, pressure cells and settlement cells are installed gradually during construction to monitor the dam behavior, and the latest results show that the dam is in a normal state.
