Application of Dam Safety Monitoring Automation System on Safety Monitoring of Sanbanzi Hydropower Station
Guizhou Sanbanxi Concrete-faced Rockfilled Dam with the maximum height of 185.50 m,is currently the second highest concrete-faced rockfilled dam in China. A total-fractional structure (?) is used on the safety monitoring system,which accessed more than 2,700 automated monitoring points.It is the largest monitoring automation system for dam safety in China,which has operated successfully for nearly three years.In 2007,when the floods of 50 years frequency appeared,reservoir water level rose rapidly.When the level reached El.472 m,the seepage speed increased rapidly. At the same time,many abnormalities are detected by a large number of monitoring instruments.By comprehensive analysis of the abnormalities,it was judged that damage occurred in the slab construction joints and was reported to the owner. Then it was proved by the underwater camer-a1.Because of the effective management and timely processing methods which are executed by operation departments,many potential accidents are avoided.It is demonstrated that the safety monitoring automation system of Sanbanxi hydropower station is competent to accurate real-time safety monitor. The measurement result can be used to analyze the broken process of slab joints and help to detect seepage source in time. The data obtained from the monitoring automation system provides a large amount of parameters for evaluating the condition of the dam. This case has further enriched experiences of safety monitoring of concrete-faced rockfilled dam. And it has great reference value for design of high concrete-faced rockfilled dam,and also for its safety operation and monitoring.It indicates that safety monitoring automation system can play an increasingly important role in the dam safety of construction and operation.
