Review of Strong Motion Safety Monitoring for Hydraulic Structures Based on the Case of the Earthquake in Wenchuan,China
Based on the damage of several large sized water resource structures in the quake center after Wen chuans earthquake,the followings are identified in this paper:(1) achievement of disaster reduction in water resource engineering,(2) the weak link in earthquake resistance and safety,(3) the problem in the engineering application of strong earthquake monitoring,and(4) fuzzy knowledge of strong earthquake safety monitoring for dams. A new concept for the system of fast evaluation and strategy support of dam safety in seismic monitoring has been proposed,which employs in this area the computer and network technique for long distance transmission of information and database management. The function,principle and application of this system are further addressed. The authors vision to the development of the safety assessment of hydraulic structures under strong earthquake is also presented.
