Impact of Wenchuan Earthquake on Zipingpu Multi-Purpose Dam Project and Post-Shock Emergency Actions

摘要：

At 14:28 hours May 12,2008 (Beijing Time),a massive earthquake of 8.0 Richter magnitude occurred in Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province,China,with epicenter at 31.0°N and 103.4° E,and the seismic focus is 14 km in depth. This article describes the impact on and destruction of the Zipingpu Multi-Purpose Dam Project caused by the earthquake,the emergency actions taken by Sichuan Zipingpu Development Co.,Ltd.,client company of the project,and the role played by the Zipingpu dam for disaster relief efforts.
