Theories and applications of a new treatment process with high efficient nutrient removal from municipal sewage

Characterized by simultaneous and high efficient deprivation of COD, BOD and nutrient, short total retention time and low operation cost, a new treatment process with high efficiency for nutrient removal from municipal sewage, which has been successfully applied to the reconstructions of several municipal wastewater treatment plants, could increase the efficiency of nutrient removal from municipal sewage by enhancing the ecological superior of vulnerable microorganisms as nitrifying and phosphate accumulating bacteria. From the practical results, we could see that according to the dynamic load of secondary sewage treatment plant, the effluent qualities (COD≤50 mg/L, BOD≤10 mg/L, NH3-N≤3 mg/L) could reach the class I-A criteria specified in Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant (GB 18918-2002) of China and the rest effluent indexes achieved the class I-B criteria without any new pool structures built.
