Value Engineering for Construction Projects in UAE
Value Engineering has become a very important tool for Construction Industry throughout the world to improve cost effectiveness. Value Engineering has been widely applied to major building projects at the design, procurement and Construction stages to achieve lower life cycle costs without compromising required performance, reliability, quality and safety. Value Engineering in the UAE is in early stages, and market trends show that it is needed due to increasing competition in the market. Therefore, the Value Engineering is seen as an important tool for future Construction projects in UAE. Based on recent financial trends, it is very important for the UAE Construction Industry to realize the potential benefits offered by Value Engineering. It needs to be fully understood in terms of High Performance, environmentally sustainable designs, lower initial and life cycle costs. The objective of Value Engineering is to eliminate unnecessary costs which do not contribute to value for the total invested cost to the Project. In most case studies to date, researchers have carried out the value analysis during the design stages but the effect of implemented cost savings to the projects were not measured during the construction and operation stages. Re research is required in Value Management Analysis for Building Construction Projects under the the rules and regulations in the UAE. The author has carried out research on value analysis on construction projects in UAE with research methodology with the aim of enhancing value to money.
