MACHINING FEATURE RECOGNICATION FOR DFM EVALUATION
Feature representation is vital to manufacturability evaluation, process planning, and NC programming. A machining oriented feature definition and taxonomy are proposed. Part represented by B-rep representation with manufacturing information such as dimensions, tolerances, and surface roughness. The machining features are recognized by rulebased algorithms implemented in ACIS modeler. The manufacturability of each machining feature is evaluated based DFM rule.
