Adiabatic and Non-Isothermal Methods of Investigation of Ezothermal Reactions Safety
An accident prevention of technological processes connecting with exothermal reactions proceeding is a complicated technical task. A runaway of such processes often leads to self heating of reaction mixture and then to heat explosion. Exothermal reactions of nitration and oxidation that proceed at energetic materials production can lead to heat explosion, to equipment damage, and to accident. Accidents connecting with runaway of exothermic processes occurred at production and treatment not only explosives and propellants but at production of dyes, organic peroxides and of some other chemical substances (untraditional explosives). Critical temperature of fast decomposition can be calculated by means of conclusion of classic theory of heat explosion if Arrenius parameters of decomposition are known such examples are given in article. But these parameters are unknown in many cases, and applying of experimental methods is necessary. This article summarized the experience that has been acquired in Mendeleev University of chemical technology at investigation of safety of exothermic reactions proceeding. All of the methods of investigation can be divided as isothermal, adiabatic, and non-isothermal ones. Adiabatic and nonisothermal methods were developed at investigation of sensitivity of explosives (1), of reaction masses, formatting at their production (2), and of untraditional explosive substances (3). The description of these methods is a main goal of this work. The main systems under investigations were (1) explosives: RDX, DINA, PETN, TETRYL and some others, (2) nitromass (mixtures that formatted at TNT and PETN production), (3) untraditional explosive substance: Bensoyl Peroxide (BP) and Cumene Hydroperoxide (CH). The results of investigation of this substances and mixtures with applying of adiabatic and non-isothermal methods were component parts of complex investigation of their explosion safety.
