Effect of Polyacrylic Acid Potassium Salt Doped Phase-Sincerely Ammonium Nitrate
In order to restrain or prevent ammonium nitrate(AN)phase transition, Polyacrylic acid potassium salt(PAK) was added to AN samples and the effects of polymers on AN phase transition were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) method and scanning electron micrograph (SEM). The results show that potassium polyacrylic acid prevents the transition of Ⅳ-Ⅲ effectively. As can be seen form the DSC trace of polyacrylic acid potassium salt doped phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate(PAK-PSAN) there is no endothermic peak below 100℃. The SEM show that PAK-PSAN is more unshapeder than pure AN. The effect of polymer on AN phase transition results from that polymer strengthens the hydrogen-bond network and baffle the turn of NO3-. On the other hand, it is possible that replacing N-H… O hydrogen bonding would result in better thermal stability by replacing an ammonium by K ion in crystal type.
