Ezperimental Study on Underwater Ezplosion Shockwave Energy Output of Insensitive High Ezplosive

A new equation called equation Z was firstly established to give a complete description of the relationship between underwater explosion (UNDEX) shockwave pressure and time. Four parameters in the equation have definitive meanings. The correlation coefficient of fitting curve based on equation Z exceeded 99% with thousands of experimental data. To validate the correctness, explosive of PBXN-111 had been tested and the shockwave energy was calculated with the fitting curve. The value (0.99 MJ/kg) was 1.6 times of TNT, which was uniform completely with reference 1. In order to study the influence of initiation mode on UNDEX explosive performance, many types of one kilogram column charge non-TNT- radicel insensitive high explosive RS had been tested. Experimental results indicated that UNDEX shockwave energy increased with the adding of booster trains diameter and the max value (1.79 MJ/kg) can be obtained at diameter ratio 0.718. Those research results could be used to describe the performance of UNDEX explosive and are useful for booster serial design in Navy weapon warfare head.
