Study on Burning Process of Nitramine Pyrotechnic Composition

In order to study the burning process of nitramine pyrotechnic composition with high burning rate, the time measurement system by fiber and the flame pervasion experiment were designed. According to compare with the parallel layer burning composition, it indicates that the nitramine pyrotechnic composition has the characteristic of non-parallel layer burning. After the flame pervasion experiment, the hole and flame pervasion phenomenon was observed on the composition surface. It further indicates that the potassium picrate (KP) component of composition burned first in the burning process and the holes come into being. The high temperature gas pervades into the holes and the burning area increased. So probably the burning process of nitramine pyrotechnic composition with high burning rate has the convection burning characteristic.
