Behavior characteristics of geoteztile-reinforced clay

In order to evaluate the behavior of reinforced cohesive soil with geotextile, 144 unconfined compression tests were conducted. By changing parameters like the moisture content of soil during remoid- ing, relative compaction, soil type, type and the number of geotextile layers, the behavior of the sample was examined. The results show that as the moisture content increases, the peak strength of the reinforced and unreinforced sample decreases and the axial strain at failure increases. Also, in the soil of lower plasticity index as the moisture content increases, the strength ratio, the ratio of the peak strength of the reinforced samples to the unreinforced samples, increases. Inversely, in the soil of higher plasticity index as the mois ture content increases, the strength ratio decreases. While, with increasing the relative compaction, the peak strength of the sample and axial strain at failure increases, besides the strength ratio decreases.
