Foundation treatment of Shuangjiangkou Core Rockfill Dam
Shuangjiangkou hydropower station is the 5th among the 22 cascade stations along Dadu River, whose reservoir is one of the three controlling reservoirs to regulate the river basins water storage. Its Core Rockfill Dam, with 314m height, is one of the highest of this type being designed. The overburden layer, with 48~57.55m average and maximum 67.8m thickness, constitutes gravel layer with boulder and cobble at top and bottom, and interbedded by gravel layer with sand and cobble which has relatively low bearing capacity. As for Anti-seepage foundation treatment, two schemes are propounded, and for technical reliability, Complete Excavation Scheme is preferred to Antiseepage Wall Scheme. Relative technical issues are discussed, such as the excavation and clearance of foundation, treatment on the contact face between core wall and foundation, treatment on foundation defect, dams seepage control and drainage layout, and the counter measures can be used as reference.
