Geotechnical design and construction problems in different geological conditions

The paper will present the geotechnical considerations of basement retaining wall and founda- tion systems in different geological conditions in Malaysia, Vietnam, United Arabia Emirates (UAE) and china. Basement excavations in granite rock formation for mega project in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), basement excavation in soft marine clay in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), deep basement excavation and construction in sedimentation rock in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and foundation systems in two different soil formations in Xian and Wuxi (China) will be presented. The paper will present the geotechnical design parameters interpretations and design considerations. Design of different retaining wall and foundation systems for different geological conditions and construction requirements will be highlighted.
