Ezperimental research on pore size distribution and soil-water characteristic curve of red clay after treatment with ionic soil stabilizer
Change in the thickness of water film of red clay particles is an important factor to produce geological disasters and geological environmental damage. In order to reduce the thickness of water film, Ionic Soil Stabilizer (ISS) is used to treat with red clay. F-Sorb3400 made in China and Soil Moisture Equipment made in U.S. A were used to test specific surface area, pore size distribution and soil-water char- acteristic curve at 0-500kPa matric suction respectively. The results show that the particle density increases, the specific surface area decreases, the cumulative pore volume and average pore size diameter decrease, dehydration rate slows and the thickness of water film thins after treatment with Ionic Soil stabilizer, thereby the geological engineering disasters caused by the changes of thickness of water film of red clay particle can be effectively inhibited.
