Identification of post-earthquake survival and reconstruction needs in the Yinchanggou Mountain area of Sichuan province, China

Two reconnaissance surveys of the Yinchanggou mountain area which was devastated by the May 12, 2008 Wenchuan earthquake were conducted in November 2008 and July 2009. We compare and contrast the living and reconstruction conditions in these two periods and make recommendations to enhance the survival and reconstruction needs of the population in light of a contemporary disaster management theoretical construct. We also examine and make remediation recommendations for specific geological and infrastructure aspects of the Wenchuan earthquake, the Xiao Yu Dong Bridge, the Xiejiadian landslide, Little Dragon Pool (Xiao Long Tan), and Big Dragon Pool (Da Long Tan).
