The Use of Vanadium in Automotive Steels
Vanadium has been used in steel for vehicle components since the beginning of the mass-produced automobile. Indeed,Henry Ford used vanadium extensively in the Ford Model T in the early 1900s,and is claimed to have said,But for vanadium there would be no automobiles. Since that time there have been many successful applications and research and development continues to identify potential new opportunities. This paper will review several recent examples covering both long and flat steel products,and applications in the body and engine.
