Development of Hot-rolled,Microalloyed and High-strength Steel of P490QK for Automobile Azle Housing

Composition design was carried out according to the characteristics of axle housing steel for automotive. Related experiments for Ni & Ti-microalloyed steel were taken at different finish rolling temperatures and coiling temperatures in 1450 hot strip mill. The effect on steel properties of chemical composition,process parameters and microstructure were analyzed according to the technical requirements of the axle housings steel. The producing process which is fit to use in Panzhihua steel was determined. On the basis,the 490 MPa level axle housing of hot-rolled steel was developed. On the condition of determinate composition and process,the property characteristics are as following: the yield strength (ReL) is 405 MPa, tensile strength (Rm) is 515 MPa,elongation (A) is 30% ,and yield ratio is 0. 82 as well. There are good cold formability and welding properties of this steel product.
