Application of ultrasonic Irradiation to Control Crystallization
The purpose of our study is to propose application of ultrasonic irradiation, and understand ultrasonic primary nucleation phenomena for controlling final product quality via the number of primary nuclei. It was indicated that ultrasonic energy could create a desired crystal size by obtaining suitable nucleation. The effect of ultrasonic irradiation on the control of polymorph in sulfamerazine (SMZ) in acetonitrile at 21℃ was also studied. From the experimental results, the polymorph in SMZ can be controlled with/without ultrasonic irradiation, in order to produce α-form or β-form polymorph. Ultrasonic Irradiation Induced Crystallization, so called sono-crystallization will be applicable by considering the optimum irradiation conditions and solution conditions. And also practical applications are proposed.
