Hydrogels of Poly(vinyl alcohol) Prepared by Freeze-Thawing Cycles for Biomedical Applications

摘要：

Hydrogels of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) can be prepared by freeze-thawing cycles of aqueous solutions. The crystallization of water induces the partial crystallization of PVA. The PVA crystallites are then the physical cross-linking points of the gel. The sol-gel transition is studied in detail by WAXS (see Figure), SAXS, rheology and light scattering measurements.
