Novel Functional Polymers for Controlled Delivery of Bioactive Molecules
Controlled delivery of bioactive molecules under physiological condition can be a crucial mean to treat diseases effectively. Maximum efficacy and minimum side effect of bioactive molecules can be achieved by utilizing suitable carrier systems. Our research group is focusing on developing in situ forming hydrogels and nanogels for controlled delivery of bioactive molecules such as small drug and macromolecules like proteins and cells. Injectable hydrogels based on the in situ gelation are very promising materials because they can enable minimized invasive implantation which have versatile fitness irrelevant to damaged regions and facilitate the incorporation of bioactive molecules or cells. In addition, many researchers have attempted to utilize nano-sized carrier systems like hydrogel nano-particles called nanogels for effective delivery of protein. In this presentation, two systems using hydrogel and nanogel for protein and cell delivery are presented
