Study on the Oral Self-Microemulsifying Drug Delivery System of GBE50
Self-Microemulsifying Drug Delivery System (SMEDDS) is composed of drug, oil phase, emulsifier and assistant emulsifier. It is homogeneous, transparent solution. The drug which is insoluble in water could be spontaneously emulsified to form microemulsion with particle size 10 ~ 100nm when mixing with water phase under the ambient temperature and moderate mixing conditions. SMEDDS system could enhance drug solubility and absorbability in human body and increase bioavailability in the clinic practice. It also reduces stimulation by drugs in the gastrointestinal wall when directly contacting it and avoids hydrolysis of the unstable drugs in water and the adverse stimulus of drugs on the gastrointestinal tract. GBE50 extracts from the Ginkgo biloba leaf. It is product of second-class medicine approved by the State Food and Drug Administration, having a special aroma, bitter taste. It contains flavonoid glycosides, terpene lactones, and so on. The main chemical composition include the total flavonoids of Ginkgo(≥ 44%), flavone glycosides(≥ 24%), free flavonoids(≥ 20%); terpene lactones (≥ 6%); ginkgolic acid (≤ 5ppm).
