Evaluation on Anti-Ozidant Activity in Vivo of Ferulic Acid Liposome for Drug Delivery to Brain

Animal model of ischemia/reperfusion was set up to value the antioxidant activity in vivo and the activity of SOD, T-AOC and the content of MDA were used as index. Ligustrazine was used as positive control. The SOD activity and T-AOC content of Ferulic acid liposome (FAL) group was higher than that of Ligustrazine. The SOD activity of RGD-FAL (RGD-mediated ferulic acid liposome) was 3-folder and 3.38-folder higher than that of FAL and Ligustrazine, respectively (Fig.1); T-AOC content of RGD-FAL was significantly higher than that of FAL and Ligustrazine, respectively (Fig.2). MDA content of RGD-FAL was lower than that of FAL, FA injection and Ligustrazine (Fig.3). The antioxidant activity in vivo of RGD-FAL was significantly greater than that of FA injection, liposomal FA and Ligustrazine and has a protect effect on I/R (ischemia/reperfusion). Thus, this strategy is a promising approach due to it can deliver drug directly to brain and allow a better protective effect in vivo.
