Research on Polarization Characteristics of Hybrid Optical Structure IFOG

This paper introduces a hybrid optical structure of interferometric fiber-optic gyroscope (IFOG). The IFOG is characterized by using single-mode optical fiber coupler and low-polarized light source. Through the theoretical analysis on the specialty of polarization,it makes the conclusion that the hybrid optical structure IFOG has a correspondingly lower phasic error. The testing results confirm that the iFOG is provided with considerable precision and performance. The gyro bias stability can get up to 0.008°/h (room temperature),wide range of temperature (-40~60 ℃) better than 0.5°/h and,could satisfy the need of highprecision inertial navigation.
