Scatter Detection and Correction Method of FPD-Based DR/CT Imaging Systems
Aiming at the scatter problem in Flat Panel Detector (FPD)-based Digital Radiography (DR) and Computed Tomography (CT) imaging systems, a scatter detection and correction method based on Beam Attenuation Array (BAA) was proposed. In this method the BAA is placed between the X-ray source and the detected object, and it is composed of the small ball array and its fixed substrate. The scatter values in the projection centers of the small ball array are calculated by using of the characteristic of a small part of the ray attenuation caused by the BAA, and then the whole scatter image is obtained by using Catmull-Clark subdivision surface approximation method to fit these scatter values. To complete the scatter correction, the final projection image is got by , subtracting the corresponding scatter image from the original projection image. The experimental results show that the proposed method is practical and effective to detect and correct the scatter in DR/CT imaging systems.
