Effect of Forage Quality on Performance, Carcass Characteristics in Korean Native Steer (Hanwoo)
(0) 1. Introduction This study enforced to evaluate if feeding with good quality forage which is a mixture of rice straw and alfalfa cube during experimental period has an influence on ADG, ADMI, carcass characteristics and meat color for storage day. 2. Material and Methods Thirty Korean Native Steers(Hanwoo) were selected for the study. Experimental design for raising period assigned two treatments: ① Control (C) of conventional feeding which intakes more concentrate than rice straw. ② Treatment (T) of good quality forage feeding which intakes more mixture of alfalfa cube and rice straw(ratio 6∶4) than concentrate (forage:concentrate=6∶4). Experimental design for the 1st and 2nd fattening period assigned mat C was equal to conventional feeding of raising period and T fed forage which both rice straw on ad-libitum and lkg per day of alfalfa cube per Cattle. Feeding on C and T was corresponded to Japanese feeding standard for beef cattle(1995).
