Spectrophotometric Method for the Determination of Copper with Beryllon Ⅲ-Tween-80 Ternary System

In the presence of Tween-80, the condition of color reaction of Cu (II) with Berryllon was studied, and a new spectrophotometric method for the Ⅲ determination of micro Cu (II) has been established. Results showed that in the presence of Na2B4O7-HCl buffer at pH 9.07, the maximum absorption wavelength and apparent molar absorptivity are 565 nm and 1.37×105 L·mol-1·cm-1, respectively. Beer′s law is obeyed in the range of 0.04–3.2 μg for Cu (II) in 10 mL solution. The detection limit is 0.01 μg/10 mL. The RSD and recovery were 1.03%-5.20% and 98.6% -104.3%. The method has been applied to the determination of trace Cu (II) in aluminium alloy and water, and the result was in accordance with that of the atomic absorption spectrometry method.
