Ezperimental Study on Three-way Catalyst Assessment via Inlet-Outlet Temperature Measurements

The present paper introduces the approaches which are directly and indirectly measured to assess catalyst performance. Qualitative investigations of the various factors on catalyst performance were processed. Test procedures were put forward and the experiment study for monitoring inlet and outlet gas temperure of three-way catalyst was carried. The performances of TWC inlet-outlet different at stable conditions when engine speed (load) or car speed was constant are discussed. The results show that speed and TWC outlet-inlet temperature difference are the main factors which influence the three-way catalyst converter efficients, and they are correlative positively. This relation can be used for a catalyst performance assessment using temperature sensors.
