Research of Pollution Levels of Atmospheric Particulates and Microelement Concentration Characteristic in Pingdingshan City

For preliminary investment of pollution levels of airborne particulate matter in PingDingshan city, eighty airborne particulate (PM10, PM2.5) samples were collected during spring, summer, autumn, winter from September of 2007 to August of 2008. Analytic results indicated that the range of PM10 concentration are from 0.045mg·m-3 to 0.872mg·m-3 and PM2.5 concentration are from 0.023mg·m-3 to 0.0444mg·m-3, the annual average PM10 concentration 0.162mg·m-3 and PM2.5 0.093mg·m-3. The concentration of PM10 was over the Chinese air quality standard 0.62 times and PM2.5 over the EPA of American air quality standard 5.20 times. The PM10 and PM2.5 pollution levels changed with seasons, which the concentration of them in the winter was high, the spring and autumn next, the summer lowest. The PM2.5 accounted approximately 64% in the PM10. The maintrace elements in the particleswere Pb, As, Cd, S, Zn, Mn, Cu and the elements easily concentrated in PM2.5.
