Ezperimental Research on Filtration Performance with Different Media for Bag Filters
In order to develop a reliable system of a bag filter for particle collection at high temperature, experimental research was carried out to observe the relationship among pressure drop, filtration velocity, and dust concentration and filtration time. The pressure drop of three commonly used filtration medium or bag filters: needle felt, membrane fabric and gradient filtration felt in the state of dust collection was tested and analyzed utilizing a simple device. The results showed that pressure drop from strong to weak was membrane fabric, gradient filtration felt and needle felt in the state of dust collection with the same filtration velocity, and also it tended to be quadratic correlation with filtration time and dust thickness. Pressure drop with filtration time and dust thickness were correlated at all points with the strong correlation. Based on the experimental observation, it could be concluded that the pressure drop of the filtration media was related to the filtration condition and media properties. Meanwhile, the coefficients of pressure drop were analyzed, from which the calculation equations of predicated cleaning cycle for a specific filtration media was studied. However, it was necessary to work with a detailed description of other factors according to the operating conditions of bag filters when the general conclusion used in an actual project. Thus, the revised coefficient (K) was introduced to be further discussed to optimize the conclusions and emphasize the importance of the inlet air flow distribution and dust cleaning mode.
