Treatment of Printing and Dyeing Wastewater with Coagulant PSAF

A new type of effective complex coagulant polysilicate aluminum ferric salt (PSAF) was prepared from coal gangue and pyrite slag and used as coagulant in the treatment of printing and dyeing wastewater. The experimental results showed that PSAF had a good coagulation effect in the treatment of printing and dyeing wastewater under the pH value ranging from 6 to 9. The removal rate of SS, colority and CODcr were 93.6%, 90.1% and 82.3% respectively in the conditions where temperature was normal, pH value was 7.0 and the coagulant dosage was 80 mg/L. The temperature had little impact on the removal rate of CODCr. In comparison with the conventional coagulants, such as PFS and PAC, the coagulation performance of PSAF was the best. The remarkable characteristics of this method were higher sedimentation rate, lower remains of pollutants in printing and dyeing wastewater and lower cost of treatment. The coagulation mechanism of PSAF coagulant in the treatment of printing and dyeing wastewater was also discussed.
