Kinetics and Thermodynamics of Adsorption of Hezavalent Chromium from Aqueous Solution Using Microspheres Prepared by Rectorite and Humic Acid.
Rectorite (REC) and humic acid (HA) were used to prepare microsphere-shape adsorbent. The kinetics and thermodynamics of adsorption of hexavalent Chromium ions onto the microspheres were investigated. The results show that the adsorption equilibrium can be carried out during 150 min under optimum conditions. The adsorption kinetics conforms to pseudo-first-order equation. The adsorption process is jointly controlled by outer and inner diffusion. The isothermal adsorption law can be well described by Freundlich, Langmruir and Temkin models. The adsorption process is spontaneous, endothermic and out-of-order. The whole adsorption process is mainly controlled by entropies. The adsorption can be classified as chemical adsorption.
