Treatment of Reactive Dye Wastewater by Transpiring-wall Supercritical Water Ozidation (SCWO) Reactor
Oxidation of aqueous solutions of dye (reactive red M-2B) was studied in a transpiring-wall SCWO reactor, operated under varied temperatures between 595 and 704 K with a fixed pressure of 28 MPa. Temperature, dye concentration, oxidant concentration and flow rate were the main controlled parameters. The modified pseudo first-order rate model was regressed from experimental data, taking into account the induction time effect. The resulting pre-exponential factor A and activation energy Ea were 1.07 /s and 12.12 kJ·mol-1, respectively, assuming that the reaction order for feed wastewater (based on COD) and oxidant were first order and zero order respectively. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and weight tests demonstrated ceramic tube was corroded.
