Adsorption of Pb(II) Ions on MnO2 Loaded D301 Resins

A novel adsorbent was fabricated by the binding of MnO2 on the D301 resin and used for the removal of Pb2+ from water solution. The adsorption experiments of Pb2+ ions in solution under different pH were conducted. The effect of several coexistent ions on the adsorption efficiency and selectivity were investigated. The results showed that the loaded adsorbent was efficient for the fast adsorption of Pb2+ from aqueous solution at the range of pH 3-7. Under the coexistence of 10 mg·L-1 Pb2+ and at least 200 mg·L-1 coexistent ions including Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl., NO3., SO4 2. and HCO3 ., no significant effects were found on the removal efficiency of Pb2+. The adsorption behavior of Pb2+ on MnO2 loaded D301 resin followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm with a maximum adsorption capacity of 212.76 mg·g-1. The kinetic experiments of the adsorption process were carried out. It was found that the adsorption process obeyed the pseudo-second-order kinetics.
