Study on Purifying-Tank for Household Sewage Treatment with Shock Resistance and High Efficiency

Experiments of household sewage treatment were carried out using a small size purifying-tank designed in our lab. The variation of growth of bio-membrane on the perforated polyethylene board in the anaerobic and aerobic sewage with time, and the water quality parameters with the amount of sewage in the case of the start-up were investigated, respectively. It is found that anaerobic bio-membrane was not easily formed on the board due to its weak water affinity, but the aerobic bio-membrane was very easy and grew rapidly due to its good water affinity. After the bio-membrane formed on the surface of the board, the start-up of the tank was fast and had a strong shock-resistance to the sewage flow. So the COD and BOD at the outlet were able to reach the national first-class discharge standard, the removal efficiency of turbidity and BOD could be 95%. The removal of COD occurred mainly in the two anaerobic zones, while the removal of turbidity in the first anaerobic zone, and the removal efficiency of them could been over 65% and 60%, respectively.
