Removing Cadmium from Cadmium-containing Electroplating Wastewater by Biosorption-flotation

There were two conditions about treating heavy metals wastewater by microbiology method, which were having good effect on adsorbing heavy metals by microbiology and microbiology loaded heavy metals and water can be separated economicly and effectively. The adsorbing effect on Bacillus mucilaginosus to cadmium in cadmium-containing electroplating wastewater is good and it can be separated from water by flotation. The flotation effects on Bacillus mucilaginosus before and after adsorbing cadmium from cadmium-containing electroplating wastewater were investigated and the feasibility of separating Bacillus mucilaginosus loading cadmium from water by flotation method was studied. The mechanism of biosorption and flotation process was analyzed by Zeta potential and Infrared spectroscopy analysis of the cells. The results show that flotation effect on cation collectors laurylamine and dibutyamine to Bacillus mucilaginosus in distilled water is good, the floating rate of Bacillus mucilaginosus is above 95% on the suitabile condition in the distilled water. The recovery of Bacillus mucilaginosus is 85% and removal rate of cadmium is 65% after adsorbing for 25min with cadmium concentration in cadmium-containing electroplating wastewater about 26mg·L-1, Bacillus mucilaginosus 40g·L-1(wet weight) , pH value being 5.5, and flotating for 2min with pH value being 7, the dosage of laurylamine 3.3×10-4mol·L-1. The amido in protein and hydroxy, carboxyl in amylose of cell was main components joins biosorption reaction, and the main biosorption force was chemical chelating, meanwhile, the electrostatic force, hydrogen bonding and Van Der Waals force all existed in the adsorption.
