Modeling Vertical Migration of the Cyanobacteria in the Static Water

Cyanobacteria are characterized with vertical migration in the stratified water column, which results from the nutritional depletion due to the competitive advantage as time consumption. The model simulates the population migration behavior on the different temperatures and different diameter of populations based on nitrogen quota N/C model. The results indicate that the colony migration exhibits periodic variation, and it depends on the diameter of population. The larger the diameter of population is, the greater the distance and the depth of migration are formed. The reduction on the depth of population migration and migration cycle occurs as the temperature change from 19 to 29 ℃ ℃, while the speed of migration increases and diameter keeps constant simultaneously.
