Study and Analysis of the Structure Situations of the Workers Employed in Hamadan Cities Solid Waste Management
Changes in living pattern, population growth, industrialization and also increasing the process of urbanization in human societies has created new environmental problems such as air pollution, major issue related to solid waste and municipal wastewaters more than ever. Today management of municipal solid wastes is an inseparable part of management of metropolises and it is really unavoidable to plan for solving the relevant problems. Solid waste management and the engineering is one of the applied sciences. Using modern technologies in urban engineering and solid waste management is one of the ordinary methods of designing installations, adopting strategies and policy making in the field of health and environment. Although solid wastes have devastative influences on the society, citizens and the environment, it could be very useful as a valuable opportunity for production of goods, providing employment and rendering services. This research has been conducted to study the structure situations of employees working in solid waste management section in Hamadan city. To conduct this study, a questionnaire was used for the purpose of collecting information. There were totally 40 questions in the questionnaire. Population of this research includes all employees (700) working in solid wastes management section of Hamadan city. Simple random sampling method has been used to conduct this research, and totally 270 completed questionnaires were gathered (n=270). The questionnaires validity and reliability have been assessed and confirmed. Based on the obtained results, the mean age (Standard deviation) of interviewees was 36.74 (9.48) years. Also, Based on the results of analysis of Chi Square, the age of employees working in solid waste management section in the Hamadan city has significant effects on literacy level (p=0.001) and occupational diseases (p=0.003), whereas the age has not any significant effects on the level of career knowledge (p=0.453). Regarding the fact that the quality, activity and performance of employees working of municipal solid waste management has a very important role in the health of people and environmental protection, it is necessary to investigate the guild issues and training and promotion of occupational information in this social stratum.
