Empirical Analysis on Inequality of Regional Economy in Shaanzi Province during 1995-2008 Based on Three Indicators
As the strongest economic province in northwestern china, Shaanxi plays an important role in national economic plans and layouts.However,some reasons such as policy discrimination,the difference in the structure of regional economy and the deeply rooted ideas lead to the current remarkable spatial disequilibrium of economic development in Shaanxi Province. This paper gathers relative data from 1995 to 2008 for evaluating the inequality of regional economy in Shaanxi Province by means of weighted coefficient of variation,location entropy measurement and Theils entropy index. Through empirical research,it is found that the curve of Shaanxis inequality of regional economy has experienced three periods；after a two-year stable period,the widening trend of economic inequality has emerged since 2007；a narrowing trend of economic inequality,suggested by related indicators,exists in both Shaannan and Shaanbei Zones；the forming of the new economic pattern in Shaanxi Province is clearly explained by the indices.In the analysis of different indicators,this paper probes the reasons regarding the inequality of development in regional economy in Shaanxi Province.Finally, the conclusions of empirical analysis are drawn.
