Soil loss and conservation in Northeast China: investigation, practice and perspective
(0) Soil structure is destroyed and soil layer has become barren and thin due to over exploitation and irrational land use. It is urgent to investigate the state of soil loss and find effective ways to control the erosion. This study reviews the recent research works of soil conservation, and presents the preferable measures to conserve soil and water. It can be concluded that: ①Water erosion is the main power causing physical degradation of black soils; ②Many field investigations in watershed-scale have been carried on the total soil loss recently, but few laboratory studies on the process of soil erosion have been found; ③The emphasis in the future is to prevent land reclamation on the steep slope and strengthen the comprehensive governance of small watershed; ④No-till farming and participatory management controls the soil and water loss effectively.
