Teleconnection between ENSO and climate in South China
El Nifio-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) has important impacts on climate around the world. This study is to investigate the effect of ENSO on climate in South China. The analyses focus on the relationships between the ENSO and the climate variables, including the daily maximum temperature (Tmax), minimum temperature (Tmin), precipitation and relative humidity (RH), in South China with the latitude from 21°N to 25°N and longitude from 111°E to 116°E. The computation of teleconnection between ENSO index and those climate variable anomalies shows that in South China ENSO has no significant effect on Tmax but on Tmin with the corresponding time delay of 3 to 4 months. In addition, ENSO has considerable signature on precipitation and relative humidity in some area in South China.
