The Use of Imaging Radars for Studies of Mine Land Rehabilitation Indicators

Leaving opencast mine untreated after closure may cause extensive land disturbances and have negative safety and environmental impacts.Mine land rehabilitation can remove the damage caused by mine, enable new land uses and prevent the subtraction of large areas from the national land inventory. To evaluate the rehabilitation activities, synthetic aperture radar(SAR)images are involved to providing environmental indicators. The indicators are grouped into vegetation indicators and soil indicators.Considering the sensitivity of SAR backscattcr, four vegetation parameters and three soil parameters are selected. This paper analyses the data requirement, and reviews the study of SAR image on getting on the seven parameters.
