PRACTICE IN ONTOLOGY-BASED SEMANTIC RETRIEVAL TECHNOLOGY

Semantic Retrieval is believed to be a primary motivation for building the Semantic Web. However, existing information retrieval technologies alone, e.g., user input processing, have been insufficient to meet the requirements of the semantic retrieval tasks (ontology query and inference etc.) due to the loss of semantics of the user input. In this paper, user input processing is incorporated with the ontology-based semantic analysis. A new approach of user input processing is presented to get Search Expression which is a specific structure of the user input. Search Expression is then analyzed semantically through ontology searching and the results are used to form the enriched queries for resources. A prototype is implemented to show the results of the proposed semantic analysis mechanism.
